Guest Shift: An Evening with Jim Meehan
When Jim Meehan's name was first mentioned at Apollo Inn, a ripple of excitement reverberated through the team. Celebrated as one of the world's leading bartenders, Jim rose to fame behind the bar at New York's renowned speakeasy, Please Don't Tell. He's a driver of the modern cocktail movement, using curious and delicious ingredients to transform classic cocktail recipes for the modern palate.
As generous with his expertise as he is skilled at stirring down a delightful drink, Jim won Tales of the Cocktail's Bartender of the Year in 2009 as well as multiple James Beard awards. He is now an accomplished author, with his book, The Bartender's Pantry, published last year.
Jim is a self-declared "cowboy without a horse" — a bartender without a bar. And so, it was a true delight for him to join us at Apollo Inn on Thursday, 28 August for a Guest Shift on his travels through Australia.
